The series Eick has planned though will take a differnt approach to Cuaron’s film. “It’s really taking root more in the origins of the novel in that it will focus on the cultural movement in which young people become the society’s utter focus,” Battlestar Galactica’s executive producer told SCIFI Wire. “It’s about how, when you don’t have a responsibility to the next generation and you’re free to do whatever you want, where do you draw the line?”

Eick currently has his hands full what with guiding BSG to its conclusion and working on the recently green-lighted Caprica spin off, not to mention distancing himself as much as possible from the diabolical mess the Bionic Woman remake became. His Battlestar pedigree, though, suggests that James’ novel is in safe hands however Eick will have his work cut out if his pilot is to hold its own against the inevitable comparisons to Cuaron’s outstanding movie.
