Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve are apparently in negotiations to write the script for Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel.
Both writers have worked with Disney before: Perlman wrote first script for last summer’s hit Guardians Of The Galaxy and doctored the script for Thor, and LeFauve penned upcoming Pixar film Inside Out‘s screenplay.
Instead of letting each writer present their take on the story and then merging the two scripts later down the line (which is a common practice for the studio), Marvel are planning to let the pair work together as a team from the get-go.
Captain Marvel will be the studio’s first female-driven movie, so it feels like there’s a lot of pressure to get it right. The decision to hire two women to write a movie about a woman is a great start.
Of course, Perlman and LeFauve haven’t been confirmed yet, but as this is the first piece of news regarding Captain Marvel, other than the fact that it’s definitely happening, we’ll take what we can get.
