Captain Marvel film has its eye on Brie Larson for the lead

Could Room’s Brie Larson be our Captain Marvel?

It’s yet to find itself a director but Captain Marvel already has its heart set on Brie Larson as the leading lady, reports Variety.

The Academy Award-winning Room and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World star is reportedly in early talks to take on the role of superhero Carol Danver.

Larson is currently the studio’s first choice for the role, and according to Variety’s sources she’s leaning towards signing up.

The film doesn’t yet have a director, and production isn’t due to start for a while, what with its spring 2019 release date. But Marvel are keen to pin down the lead early with the hope of possibly introducing the character in another of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming films.

Captain Marvel will be produced by Kevin Feige, and Inside Out’s Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman are penning the script.

Captain Marvel is in cinemas on 8 March 2019. Get all the latest superhero movie news with every issue of SciFiNow.
