Marvel’s Captain Marvel has just added its fifth cast member as She’s Gotta Have It star DeWanda Wise has become involved.
According to Deadline, Wise has taken a co-star role opposite Brie Larson’s superhero Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot who finds herself with superpowers after a freak accident that causes her DNA to fuse with that of an alien.
As usual, the character Wise will be playing is yet to be confirmed. However, it’s believed that it’s not just a bit-role.
Captain Marvel will be set in the nineties, and will also star Jude Law as Carol Danvers’ mentor Dr Walter Lawson, Ben Mendelsohn as an as yet unspecified villain, Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury before he famously lost an eye.
The film is being directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, with a screenplay by Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet. Kevin Feige is of course producing, and Victoria Alonso, Louis D’Esposito, Stan Lee and Jonathan Schwartz are all serving as executive producers.
