According to Deadline, Emily VanCamp, star of the TV show Revenge, is set to play the female lead – believed to be Sharon Carter – in Marvel’s Avengers Assemble follow-up, Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
In the comic-book, Sharon Carter, the niece of Captain America (Chris Evans)’s World War 2 love interest Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), is a SHIELD agent who acts as Cap’s contemporary handler, Agent 13.
She eventually falls in love with Steve Rogers, the man behind the star-spangled shield, and plays a key roll in untangling the events of The Winter Soldier storyline.
