It’s no secret that Captain America: The Winter Soldier is set to seriously challenge the status quo of the Avengers universe as it exposes the rot right at the heart of super-powered spy agency SHIELD, but it’s also going to start pulling two of the Avengers team apart as well.
The super soldier (Chris Evans)’s cast-iron ideals are the reason he’s been paired with Scarlett Johansson’s no-nonsense Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow. They may be products of the same system, but the street-smart siren has no illusions about what SHIELD is up to, and she’s not above a few dirty tricks herself.
“They’re a wonderful pairing for that reason – they’re opposites,” says co-director Anthony Russo, speaking exclusively to SciFiNow.

“Cap is very grounded in the truth; she’s very fluid with the truth. Their personality types are so different, and what they stand for and believe in. To force these two together through circumstances and make either of them trust or not trust one another is a fun dance to watch them do.
“Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson have worked together several times, so they have a remarkable chemistry with one another. They’re very intimate and knowing.”
‘Intimate’ might be the key word, with rumours of a romance hounding the second movie and leaked set pictures showing the two characters locking lips.
One thing’s for certain: this dance isn’t going to end well.
