Cage in talks for Hornet role

Longtime comic book aficionado Nicolas Cage is reportedly in negotiations to appear in The Green Hornet.

green-hornet-a-goNicolas Cage, the veteran of recent graphic novel adaptations such as Ghost Rider, and the upcoming Kick-Ass, is reportedly in negotiations to take a role on the upcoming film of The Green Hornet.

The rumour comes off the back of a recent murmur making the rounds that Cameron Diaz is apparently in line to take on a role on the film, which will be directed by Michel Gondry. Diaz’s alleged role would be one of a reporter and love interest. Seth Rogen co-wrote the script with Evan Goldberg, and up until recently, Stephen Chow was in line to take on the role of Kato, but pulled out.

The Green Hornet has long been in production, or at least rumored to be. The project has recently picked up pace, with Rogen stating to Ain’t It Cool News that the sets are being built, and there are suggestions that a surprise Comic-Con visit will be occuring this weekend in San Diego. The character itself was developed in the Thirties as a masked crime fighter, and has had a number of adaptations over the years including a Sixties television series starring Van Williams and a Forties radio play, the name of which was used as a codename during World War Two.
