We’re very excited about Buster’s Mal Heart, the new film from The Midnight Swim writer-director Sarah Adina Smith starring Rami Malek, and there’s now a teaser poster ahead of the film’s TIFF debut from IMPAwards.
Malek (who is so incredible on Mr Robot) stars as the title character, “a mountain man on the run from authorities who survives the winter by breaking into empty vacation homes. He’s haunted by a recurring dream of being lost at sea only to discover that the dream is real: He is one man in two bodies.”
The film also stars Kate Lyn Sheil (Outcast, House Of Cards, You’re Next), DJ Qualls (Supernatural, The Man In The High Castle), Toby Huss (Carnivale, Halt & Catch Fire), and genre legend Lin Shaye (Insidious, Abattoir, Ouija).
We were huge fans of The Midnight Swim, a beautifully constructed and increasingly creepy tale of three sisters reuniting at their childhood home, so we can’t wait to see what Smith has come up with. On top of that, we’re addicted to Mr Robot, so the idea of Smith directing the brilliant Rami Malek in a film with such an intriguing concept…well, we’re just really quite anxious to hear when it’s coming out in the UK. Still, we’re heading into the Toronto Film Festival season, so we should all get used to the difficult emotional journey of “What? That sounds amazing! I can’t wait to see it! When’s it coming out in the UK? No one knows? I see…”
Anyway, we’re keeping a close eye on this one.
