Alien and Blade Runner director Ridley Scott is at that stage in his career where he can comfortably work at his own pace on the projects that excite him, and not have to give a solitary shit what anyone else wants.

Despite early talk of the Blade Runner sequel, little has been heart on it since the initial burst of excitement around Prometheus, back before the idea of the director revisiting his landmark ’80s sci-fi films became a source of quiet dread…

“It’s written and it’s damn good,” Scott told Entertainment Weekly.

“Of course it involves Harrison, who is a survivor after all these years – despite the accident [during the production of Star Wars: Episode VII]. So yes, that will happen.”

The issue is timing, as the next projects on creator’s slate are The Martian and Prometheus 2, which is locked in for a 2016 release.

“That’s the problem,” Scott admitted. “I’ve got a lot of ducks in a row. But they’re all written.”
