Blade Runner 2 gets the perfect cinematographer

We keep getting more excited about Blade Runner 2 as genius cinematographer is confirmed

Blade_RunnerDenis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner sequel keeps getting more promising.

It’s been confirmed (via SlashFilm) that the brilliant cinematographer Roger Deakins has signed on to shoot the film, which will star Harrison Ford, while Ryan Gosling is still in negotiations.

Deakins is the cinematographer of (deep breath) Barton Fink, Fargo, The Shawshank Redemption, The Big Lebowski, No Country For Old Men, The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford, and Skyfall among others. He also worked with Villeneuve on Prisoners, as well as Sicario, which is currently getting rave reviews at Cannes.

Jordan Cronenweth’s cinematography on the original Blade Runner was stunning and helped to set the template for dystopian urban futures that Hollywood is still using. We can’t wait to see what kind of visual magic Deakins conjures up for us. Jesse James is one of the most beautifully shot films in recent memory; just think about what he could do with this universe.

You can buy Blade Runner on Blu-ray for £6.40 at Amazon.co.uk. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
