Black Lightning Season 3 adds Wayne Brady as Gravedigger

Whose Line Is It Anyway’s Wayne Brady joins Black Lightning Season 3 as Gravedigger

The CW’s Black Lightning cast list is getting even longer for Season 3: Wayne Brady has officially joined the show as Tyson Spikes, AKA Gravedigger.

Brady is best known for being a regular on improvisational comedy series Whose Line Is It Anyway?, as well as being the host of daytime talk show The Wayne Brady Show.

The character of Tyson Spikes is described as a World War II-era member of the US military who became a ‘super soldier’ after a secret experiment gave him enhanced strength, agility, tactical genius and hand-to-hand combat skills. He defected to Markovia after the war rather than return to his segregated home. His aim to create a sovereign land for metahumans within Markovia sets him on a collision course with Black Lightning and the ASA.

Gravedigger made his first appearance in the DC comics in Men Of War #1 in August 1977, as the alter ego of Captain Ulysses Hazard. The mantel was taken on by Tyson Spikes in Checkmate Vol. 2 #24 in May 2008. The latter version of the character was created by writers Greg Rucka and Eric Trautmann and artist Joe Bennett.

Black Lightning stars Cress Williams, China Anne McClain, Nafessa Williams, Christine Adams, Marvin Jones III, Damon Gupton, James Remar, and Jordan Calloway. Salim Akil serves as the show’s executive producer.
