First it was Hugh Laurie, then it was Clive Owen, but now it’s variefied, set in stone, official – Batman and Beetlejuice star Michael Keaton will be playing the bad guy and OmniCorp boss in the forthcoming reboot of Paul Verhoeven‘s RoboCop.
In a statement, director Jose Padilha welcomed the actor, saying, “Michael is the final addition to the amazing cast we have assembled for this film and it is so great to have the last puzzle piece in place. It is thrilling that everything has come together to bring this innovative new vision of RoboCop to life.
“We’ve got a great script, a great cast, some killer ED-209s and I can’t wait to get Alex Murphy back on the streets.”
RoboCop is due in cinemas 9 August 2013, while the original Robocop trilogy is available now on Blu-ray for £10 from Amazon.co.uk.
