Speaking to Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice extras during the recent Detroit filming, local news station WILX-10 News heard from one anonymous (and soon to be sued into the ground by Warner Bros) interviewee that “I’ve also learned that the character of Robin is now female.”
There’s one obvious contender (discounting the brief period in which Stephanie Brown was Robin): The Dark Knight Returns‘ Carrie Kelly.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire‘s Jena Malone has also been seen on set, sporting a new red hairdo. Malone – who previously worked with Batman V Superman director Zack Snyder on the stylishly dull Sucker Punch – also teased her new look on her Instagram:
It was obviously right from the reveal at San Diego Comic-Con 2013 that Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice would be taking its cues from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns miniseries, but with the toxic cloud hanging over the character of Robin since the Batman Forever/Batman & Robin era, it’s a bold move indeed.
We certainly don’t want another John ‘Robin’ Blake style fudge, give us the real big screen Carrie Kelly goddamn (Batman) it.
