With Christopher Nolan taking a well deserved break, rumours aplenty have been flying as to who will be filling the villain boots in the sequel to The Dark Knight. Angelina Jolie, and our personal fave Cher, have been bandied around as possibles for Catwoman and now Michael Caine has thrown in his tuppence worth, too, strengthening the suggestions that have been circulating as to who will be Christian Bale’s on-screen enemies in the next movie.
“I was with [a Warner Bros.] executive and I said, ‘Are we going to make another one?’”, Caine has expressed. “They said yeah. I said, ‘How the hell are we going to top Heath? And he says ‘I’ll tell you how you top Heath — Johnny Depp as The Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin.’”
While it is far from concrete, even just the thought of this pairing has us giggling with excitement.
