The long-gestating Barbarella TV show is showing signs of life, as executive producer Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, Only God Forgives) has found a home for it at Amazon.

Deadline reports that Amazon Studios have bought the pilot script by Skyfall writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, which is being produced by Gaumont International under Martha Di Laurentiis. Gaumont is also responsible for Hannibal at NBC and Hemlock Grove at Netflix.

It’s still early days for Barbarella, but the search for a showrunner to take on this new vision of Jane Fonda’s sexually liberated planet-hopping secret agent is now on.
