According to James Cameron, the sequel and threequel to his 2009 sci-fi blockbuster Avatar could be ready to go as early as 2013, with the scripts finished by February that year.

“I want to get these scripts nailed down,” James Cameron told The West Australian. “I don’t want to be writing the movie in post-production. We kind of did that on the first picture, I ended up cutting out a lot of scenes and so on and I don’t want to do that again.”

He added that if the controversial 48 frames per second frame rate of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey takes off, “then that will pave the way for Avatar to take advantage of it.”
