The Life On Mars spin-off Ashes to Ashes has been picked up for a second season, with filming scheduled to begin this summer for a return to screens next year.
“The Eighties have had a real revival over the past few months; Ashes To Ashes seems to have captured the imagination of the nation,” executive producer Simon Crawford-Collins has said somewhat modestly.
Although not as popular with audiences as Life On Mars, Ashes To Ashes pulled in a decidedly strong average of 6.5 million viewers which, no doubt, was a persuasive factor in the decision to renew. We can only presume that DCI Hunt’s vocal dexterity was the other.
