Arrow Season 5 confirms new team member

A new vigilante will join Team Arrow for Season 5

Considering the status quo of Team Arrow after the epic Season 4 finale [SPOILERS], with Laurel dead and Diggle, Thea and Quentin all having departed, leaving Oliver and Felicity to hold down the fault (and even they are no longer together), new blood is needed for Season 5. And according to EW, it looks like they will be getting just that, with Rick Gonzalez being targetted for a role.

In the series, he will be playing a version of DC superhero Wild Dog, who is described in the report as “a new vigilante in Star City whose reckless and cocksure nature prompts Green Arrow to take him under his wing.” In the comics, he’s a young US army veteran who turns to fighting crime after his fiancee is killed, donning a hockey mask in the process.

Having done exactly the same thing while playing Casey Jones in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows, we’re sure that Stephen Amell will have plenty of potential for knowing in-jokes as the show heads into relatively unknown territory. Early talk is that Spectre – aka the Spirit of Vengeance – will be Season 5’s new big bad, but as yet, nothing has been confirmed. Whatever happens, it will take something special to top some of the previous season’s big bads, like Malcolm Merlyn, Slade Wilson, Ra’s Al Ghul, Damien Darhk et al. We’ll wait and see.

Gonzalez joins a cast that already includes Stephen Amell and Emily Bett-Rickards, with David Ramsey, Willa Holland and Paul Blackthorne all expected to reprise their roles, along with many others.

Arrow: Season 5 will air on Sky 1 later in 2016. You can download The 25 Greatest DC Comics Ever digital edition from GreatDigitalMags.com. Watch our video interview with Stephen Amell here. For more news about the latest TV series, pick up the new issue of SciFiNow.
