Speaking to Comic Book Resources, Green Lantern screenwriter and Arrow co-creator Marc Guggenheim teased the continued evolution of Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) in his mission to save Starling City from the powers that have corrupted it.

“Season 2 is all about [Oliver] going from vigilante to being a hero,” said Guggenheim.

“Especially in comics, we tend to use those words interchangeably, but Season 2 really spells out the difference between what it means to be a vigilante and what it means to be a hero.

“That’s something we grab by the throat and don’t let go of starting in episode one of Season 2.”

Arrow Season 1’s epic finale witness Oli’s best friend Tommy Merlyn (Colin Donnell) sacrifice his life to save the woman he loved, Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), and Guggenheim promises that his death “echo throughout Season 2”.

“It really was a stone thrown in the pond of Arrow and the ripples continue to extend.

“We didn’t kill off Tommy just to end the season with a bang. We did it for all the long-term effects it will have on Oliver and the rest of the cast.”

Arrow Season 2 will air Autumn on Sky 1. Pick up Green Lantern on DVD for £4.90, or on Blu-ray for £8 from Amazon.co.uk.
