According to Bleeding Cool, The CW have announced a new addition to the Arrow and The Flash TV universe in the form of new animated series Vixen.

Based on the totem-powered Justice Leaguer introduced by writer Gerry Conway and artist Bob Oksner in Action Comics #521 (July 1981), Vixen will be helmed by Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim, and is set to debut on CW Seed – The CW’s online platform – in what is being hailed as a pretty bold move for the network.

No other news is known, but it’s kinda sad that the first standalone black hero in that universe will debut in an animated series online, rather than in live action on The CW…

Still, with so little known, there could be a plan to bring her into live action in the future, and perhaps even assemble a small-screen Justice League with Supergirl, The Atom and, er, David Mazouz’s young Bruce Wayne from Gotham.

We can dream.

Arrow Season 3 returns 21 January 2015 on The CW in the US and shortly afterwards on Sky 1 HD in the UK. You can buy Arrow Season 1 & 2 on DVD for £25 on Amazon.co.uk. Get more DC news in the latest issue of SciFiNow.
