According to Deadline, Anne Rice’s entire Vampire Chronicles series has been acquired by Universal Pictures and Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment.

The deal includes her as yet unreleased 11th book in the series, Prince Lestat, the unproduced screenplay (by son Christopher Rice) for The Tale Of Body Thief and all future texts that Rice may write in the saga.

The first and third books in the series were previously adapted by Warner Bros as 1994’s Interview With The Vampire and 2002’s Queen Of The Damned (which also cherrypicked plot points from second novel, The Vampire Lestat).

Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who are also developing The Mummy and Van Helsing for Universal, will produce the entire series, suggesting that they might be taking place under a wider Universal Monsters banner…

Prince Lestat is due 30 October 2014, you can pre-order it for £12.91 from Amazon.co.uk.
