Annabelle 3 will have the evil doll haunting the Warrens

James Wan teases a horror Night At The Museum with Annabelle 3

The next chapter of The Conjuring universe is almost here as The Nun hits cinemas this September, but James Wan revealed a few details about the upcoming Annabelle 3 at Comic-Con.

As previously announced, the third chapter in the haunted doll strand of the horror franchise is set to be directed by Gary Dauberman, who wrote both previous movies and The Nun, not to mention IT.

What’s interesting is that it sounds like Annabelle 3 will tie things right back into the main Conjuring storyline and bring Ed and Lorraine Warren into it. Collider reports that the movie is going to be set in the Warrens’ home, with Annabelle targeting their locked room of terrifying and evil objects (which is where we first saw Annabelle safely locked away in the first Conjuring) and going after 10 year old Judy Warren.

James Wan dropped a nice little tease as to the doll’s methods, saying that “Annabelle basically activates all the other haunted artifacts in that room, so it’s basically Night At The Museum with Annabelle.” We’re in.

Presumably this means that we can expect an announcement about Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson starring very soon. It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about The Conjuring 3 so maybe this will be the next best thing.
