The Amazing Spider-Man 2 may well be setting up plans for a fourth film, but speaking to Yahoo! star Andrew Garfield asserted that The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is the last film with his name on it.

“I mean, I’m under contract for another one after this… as far as a fourth one? That’s not anything to do with me,” said Garfield, flatly.

“But yeah, I think what we’re doing here is we’ve established the world. And now we get to really play inside that world.”

It’s hard to imagine the rest of the series unfold without him, and Garfield is probably just being savy and laying down the groundwork for a Robert Downey Jr-style renegotiation of his contract for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and beyond.

However, what if it doesn’t work out? He’s a rising star, he’s young… by 2016 Andrew Garfield could easily have other priorities for his career.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is due 2 May 2014, while The Amazing Spider-Man is out now. Order it now on DVD for £10 and Blu-ray for £14.99 from Amazon.co.uk. Thwip thwip.
