Speaking to Access Hollywood, The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s Chris Cooper revealed that Norman Osborn – aka the Green Goblin – doesn’t have a major role in the sequel, but is instead being groomed for bigger and badder things in The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

“This is an introduction to Norman Osborn,” Cooper said. “And, apparently, this leads to better things in The Amazing Spider-Man 3.”

Mentioned in the first film as being in poor health, funding Curt Connor’s research into the regenerative properties of certain reptiles in order to slow his own terminal decline.

“I think it’s fair to say that he’s on his last legs,” confirmed Cooper, “and I don’t know if I can say anything more.”

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is due 2 May 2014, while The Amazing Spider-Man is out now. Order it now on DVD for £10 and Blu-ray for £14.99 from Amazon.co.uk. Thwip thwip.
