Alien: Covenant trailer sends its cast to hell

The new Alien: Covenant trailer brings the xenomorphs

Following yesterday’s poster, a new trailer for Alien: Covenant has arrived and it’s not holding back on the monsters. Let’s have a look…

As clarified in that prologue clip, this is a ship full of couples sent out to find new planet to colonise, and the one they find quickly turns out to be too good to be true. Yes there’s wheat, but there are facehuggers.

There’s a fair bit in terms of new footage but, apart from the reveal of the big guy, not too much given away in terms of story. One thing that we noticed is that the promotional material has been very light on Michael Fassbender, given that he’s playing two characters and is the most obvious link to Prometheus. Sure, he’s there, but the bulk of the action has been left to Katherine Waterston’s Daniels and Danny McBride’s pilot Tennessee. Oh, and Billy Crudup, but if you will go wandering towards an opening egg…

Presumably one, or both, Fassbenders are key to the existence of organic life on this new planet. We’re very much looking forward to them meeting one another.

Alien: Covenant stars Michaael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demian Bichir, Billy Crudup, Carmen Ejogo, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England and James Franco.

“Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”

Alien: Covenant will be released on 12 May. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
