It was previously confirmed that Neill Blomkamp’s Alien movie would wait for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus sequel to move forward first. Now, it looks like the District 9 filmmaker has longer to wait.
Blomkamp confirmed on Twitter that his Alien film, which would have brought back Sigourney Weaver as Ripley and (almost definitely) Michael Biehn as Hicks, is on hold.
alien is kinda holding/ pending prometheus 2. So I shall be working on other things… as much as I love the xeno- and Lt ripley

There’s every chance that the movie will get back into production following the release of Prometheus sequel, sorry, Alien: Paradise Lost, but, as Deadline points out, the additional delay might have something to do with the fact that Scott’s film is more tying itself more definitively to the original saga. What made Blomkamp’s proposal distinctive was that it was definitely an Alien film. Would there be room for both?
How do you feel about this? Are you annoyed that you have to wait to see Blomkamp bring back Ripley, or are you more excited to see how Scott is planning to bring Prometheus back into the Alien fold?
