Alicia Vikander to hunt monsters in Ben Wheatley’s Freakshift

Ben Wheatley’s monster movie lines up Ex Machina star

Ben Wheatley’s Freakshift has been bubbling away in development for a while now and it looks like it’s finally getting going.

Deadline reports that Ex Machina star Alicia Vikander is in talks to lead the Kill List and High-Rise director’s latest, “an all-guns-blazing action thriller about a band of misfits who hunt down and kill nocturnal underground monsters.”

There is nothing that we do not like about that plot synopsis.

The site notes that Vikander isn’t exactly short on offers at the moment, on account of her winning an Oscar and being generally brilliant in everything, but that the film’s August start date would fit in nicely with her currently-filming Tomb Raider reboot, which will wrap up this summer.

Wheatley’s unstoppable run of form continues with the hugely entertaining shoot ’em upĀ Free Fire, which is out in the UK on 30 March. He’s been talking about Freakshift since 2011 and we’re very, very excited that it’s finally coming together. Now, where’s I, Macrobane
