Casting on Marvel’s Netflix series AKA Jessica Jones has gone into overdrive over the last month, with Krysten Ritter being appointed lead Jessica ‘Jewel’ Jones, Doctor Who star David Tennant taking villain duties as the Purple Man, and Rachael Taylor being chosen for the role of Tris Walker, aka Hellcat. Now, the ensemble has gotten just that little bit more star-studded, with marvel.com revealing that another action star will be entering the Marvel universe.
Carrie-Anne Moss – who most genre fans will recognise as Trinity from The Matrix trilogy – will be showing up in an as-yet unrevealed role. Having also shown up in the final season of Chuck, her geek credibility shouldn’t be in any doubt, and this represents another fine piece of casting.
Speaking about Moss’s casting on marvel.com, executive producer/showrunner Melissa Rosenberg said, “Throughout her career, Carrie-Anne has embodied a wide range of characters in a compelling and relatable way and I have no doubt she will bring that talent to AKA Jessica Jones.”
Jeph Loeb, co-executive producer and Marvel’s head of television, added, “Carrie-Anne has proven her ability to play complex characters with deep and layered inner lives. Her interaction with Jessica Jones will be one of the many highlights of the series.”
