Agent Carter Season 2 casting news: Resurrection star added

Find out who just joined the cast of Agent Carter

Agent Carter Season 2 is getting bigger still with the news of a brand new cast member. Marvel.com has announced that Resurrection and That ’70s Show star Kurtwood Smith will be taking on the role of Vernon Masters, a “veteran of the War Department with a keen understanding of how to work the system”. Sounds promising.

In a Marvel statement, executive producers Tara Butters, Chris Dingess and Michele Fazekas said: “We had the pleasure of working with Kurtwood on both Resurrection and Chaos, and were well aware of what a commanding presence he is. So when we were developing the character of Vernon Masters, we wrote it with him in mind.  We just never thought we could actually get him.  Thankfully, we were wrong.”

Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb said: “We’ve been fans of Kurtwood’s work for years, from his villainous turn in RoboCop to his role as a father confronted with the return of his long-dead son in Resurrection. That type of range makes him a perfect addition to our cast for Peggy’s second thrilling solo adventure.”

The news makes Smith Agent Carter Season 2’s fifth new cast member. Check out details the rest of the new players – and their characters – below:

Wynn Everett as Whitney Frost, a Hollywood actress and brilliant inventor.

Currie Graham as Calvin Chadwick, a high-powered business man and husband to Whitney Frost.

Lotte Verbeek as Ana Jarvis,  Edwin Jarvis’s free-spirited wife who befriends Peggy and helps her adjust to life in Los Angeles.

Reggie Austin as Jason Wilkes, a quirky and charismatic scientist who charms Peggy.
