Marvel’s Agent Carter TV show has found its male lead in the form of awesome character actor Shea Whigham, who will join star Hayley Atwell.
Deadline reports that the star of Boardwalk Empire, True Detective and Wristcutters: A Love Story has signed on to play “tough but fair-minded SSR Chief Roger Dooley, the man who will oversee agents Carter, Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) and Sousa (Enver Gjokaj).”
If you don’t recognise the name, you’ll recognise the face. In addition to playing Nucky Thompson’s brother Eli, he’s appeared in movies like The Wolf Of Wall Street, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle and Fast And Furious 6 in the last two years alone, and he’s got buckets of indie cred after appearing in films like All The Real Girls, Take Shelter and This Must Be The Place.
“Set in 1946, Agent Carter centres on Peggy Carter (Atwell), who, working for the covert Strategic Scientific Reserve, must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark.”
Agent Carter begins in January on ABC in the US. Read about the comics that inspired the film with the 100 All-Time Greatest Comics Bookazine.
