Agent Carter cancelled by ABC, Marvel’s Most Wanted dead too

Say goodbye to Agent Carter and Marvel’s Most Wanted

In perhaps the saddest TV news of 2016, Marvel’s Agent Carter has officially been cancelled by ABC after just two seasons. We don’t know how to deal with it either.

Despite continuous critical acclaim and its dedicated fan base, Agent Carter‘s ratings have never been the best, which appears to be the only factor that would explain the network’s decision to drop it. The numbers certainly weren’t enough to compete with its sister show Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD, which typically brings in between 3 and 5 million viewers per episode.

In similar news, ABC has also decided not to continue work on its previously upcoming show Marvel’s Most Wanted. The series, which would have been a direct Agents Of SHIELD spin-off, was set to star Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood as their SHIELD characters Agent Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse and Agent Lance Hunter. Sadly, that show wasn’t to be either.

They say it’s better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all, but we’re still more cut up about Agent Carter‘s abrupt death, to be honest. However, there is a very slight silver lining to all of this: the fantastic Hayley Atwell, who played Peggy Carter on the show, has already signed up for another ABC drama.

According to THR, Atwell will headline Conviction as lawyer Carter Morrison, “the brilliant but ne’er-do-well daughter of a former president, who is blackmailed into taking a job as the head of Los Angeles’ newly created Conviction Integrity Unit”. ABC recently picked Conviction‘s pilot up for a full series, so we’ll be seeing a lot more of Atwell on our screens in no time. No gadgets or superhuman powers, but still quite cool.

You can buy Marvel’s Agent Carter Season 1 on Blu-ray for £22.99 from Amazon.co.uk. Get all the latest science fiction news with every issue of SciFiNow.
