Posting on Whedonesque.com, Whedon said that he “just couldn’t resist letting you know that the recurring roles have actually been cast for some time now. I’m shocked that any part of our casting process hasn’t been leaked somehow. And though I’m a fan of secrets, I’ll give you the last two pieces of this particular puzzle.” The pieces in question were Acker’s casting as Dr Claire Saunders, and that of Miracle Laurie as November.

Dollhouse follows the principal character of Echo, who along with her fellow dolls serves as a sort of programmable human able to undertake any task before having her memory wiped at the end of the assignment. Echo, however, begins to remember aspects of her previous missions, something that is strictly controlled by the organisation.

Acker and Laurie join an ensemble that also includes Battlestar Galactica’s Tahmoh Penikett, Fran Kranz, Harry Lennix, and Eliza Dushku as Echo. The series will premier this autumn on Fox.
