Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter flops at the box office

Pixar’s Brave trashes the historical vampire mash-up

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter new trailerAbraham Lincoln sank at the US box office this weekend in the face of Pixar’s latest picture, Brave. The Timur Bekmambetov-directed adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith book made a lean $16.5 million, while Brave made a massive (though low by Pixar standards) $66.7 million. Though Abraham Lincoln was produced for a mid-sized $69 million, this weak result might block other potential mash-up projects – such as the Richard Kelly-produced Pride & Prejudice & Zombies movie – from finding their way into production. Not the worst news in the world, really, as a spate of these gimmicky movies would undoubtedly drive us insane in the long run.
