Juan Antonio Bayona’s A Monster Calls has added another excellent actor to its already impressive cast, as Toby Kebbell has joined Liam Neeson, Sigourney Weaver and Felicity Jones.

THR reports that the star of Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes and The Fantastic Four is in negotiations to star in the film of Patrick Ness’ children’s fantasy novel about “a young boy who attempts to deal with bullying at the hands of his classmates, and his mother’s terminal illness, by escaping into a fantastical world through the guidance of a tree monster.”

Kebbell will play the boy’s father, “a man with a history of not being there for his son”, while Jones plays the mother, Neeson the monster, and Weaver the boy’s “no-nonsense grandmother.”

Bayona recently directed Penny Dreadful, and is still best-known for the excellent Spanish horror The Orphanage.
