One Warner Bros producer has broken ranks on Twitter with some information that suggests the Batman Vs Superman take on the Dark Knight is inspired as much by Mark Waid and Alex Ross’ Kingdom Come as it is Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns.

Speaking about Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel sequel, Daniel Alter tweeted, “Can’t wait for #BatmanvsSuperman.. #batfleck semi-retired/not speaking to Robin anymore. Controlling drones from the batcave.”

This sounds uncannily like the setup in Kingdom Come, doesn’t it? In the landmark graphic novel, an elderly Bruce Wayne controls terrifying Batbots from the ruins of Wayne Manor, while Dick Grayson – the original Robin – fights crime solo.

Inspired by Superman’s return to challenge the new breed of superheroes, Wayne straps himself into an exo skeleton not that dissimilar to the one he uses to beat down Superman in The Dark Knight Returns
