Netflix are continuing their tradition of signing up credible showrunners for their original series and, according to The Wrap, Buffy and Angel writer, and director of The Cabin In The Woods Drew Goddard has signed up to write the streaming service’s 13-episode Daredevil series.

Judging by their existing formula in which the big name creators set the tone with the pilot, Goddard can perhaps be relied upon to direct the first episode too.

Goddard had previously expressed an interest in working on a Daredevil movie, saying, “Like everyone else, I love Born Again: that was a seminal work for me. Everything Frank Miller did on Daredevil is like the Bible.”

Aside from his love for the character and obvious writing chops – which also include Cloverfield, Alias and Lost – Goddard’s relationship with Joss Whedon suggests there may be some synergy, or at least sympathy, between the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the scaled down Netflix/Disney universe of Hell’s Kitchen.

Agents Of SHIELD is showing now on Channel 4. You can buy Avengers Assemble on DVD for £10.99 or on Blu-ray for £14.99 from Amazon.co.uk.
