If Joss Whedon couldn’t silence the geek outrage over Ben Affleck’s casting as Batman in Man Of Steel 2 then perhaps Joseph Gordon-Levitt can.

The Looper star was strongly hinted to be taking on the mantle of Batman at the close of The Dark Knight Rises when his Gotham City beat cop stumbles into the cave, and there’s a certain amount of geek cred attached to the idea that he would be taking on the role for any prospective Justice League movie, at least until Ben Affleck entered the picture.

“That’s gonna be great,” Gordon-Levitt told E! News, when asked about Affleck’s casting at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, dismissing the negativity, saying, “Oh, but it’s gonna be good. I think it’s gonna be good.”
