Locke and KeyThe film rights to Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’ acclaimed comic series Locke & Key have been snapped up by Universal.

Star Trek writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who adapted the comic for the Locke & Key TV pilot that Fox decided not to pick up, will be producing according to THR, although it isn’t clear if they will be writing the script for the film.

The comic “tells of three siblings who, after the gruesome murder of their father, move to their ancestral home in Massachusetts. They soon discover the house has magical keys that give the bearers a vast array of powers and abilities. However, a devious creature is also after the keys, forcing the family to make a stand against evil.”
