Guardians Of The Galaxy adds Glenn Close and Nova

Glenn Close is the Nova Corps’ Nick Fury in James Gunn’s Guardians Of The Galaxy

According to Deadline, veteran thespian Glenn Close, star of Mars Attacks! and Air Force One, has joined the cast of James Gunn’s Guardians Of The Galaxy as the head of Nova Corps – Marvel’s intergalactic space police, analogous to the Green Lanterns in DC.

The site reported, “I believe Close’s role would be the closest thing to the one that Samuel L Jackson plays in Marvel’s Avengers movie.”

Interestingly, Deadline earlier reported that Wreck-It Ralph‘s John C Reilly is in the running for an Agent Coulson type role, described as “human agent who serves as a go-between, keeping the Guardians in line and reporting to SHIELD about their activities.”

Does this mean Guardians Of The Galaxy has its own Nick Fury AND Agent Coulson? Or are they the same character? And does this mean a more prominant role for the Nova Corps and that long-rumoured Nova spin-off in Marvel’s Phase 3?

Guardians Of The Galaxy is due in cinemas 1 August 2014. Pick up James Gunn’s Super on DVD for £4.49 or Blu-ray for £6.99 from Amazon.co.uk.
