Tweeting a picture of the cast of his forthcoming prequel sequel X-Men: Days Of Future Past, Bryan Singer revealed that The Following‘s Adan Canto has joined the mutant superteam as an unconfirmed character.
Canto himself teased, “I might turn into a ball of fire if someone pisses me off.”
Sunspot, a member of the New Mutants, introduced in Marvel Graphic Novel #4: The New Mutants (1982) by writer Chris Claremont and artist Bob McLeod, is at the top of the list.
Sunspot was referenced in X-Men 2, and was originally set to appear in X-Men: First Class but was written out – according to director Matthew Vaughn he was one of Singer’s choices, but was removed due to time and expense of a character as potentially CG-heavy as Bobby da Costa’s Sunspot.
After the whitewashing of Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, it’s nice to think that Roberto ‘Bobby’ da Costa, a Brazilian, could be played by an actual Latino.
