Lucasfilm have announced their plans to “wind down” the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series after five seasons, and postpone their Seth Green-produced animated comedy Star Wars: Detours.

While The Clone Wars Season 5 will be the last, there are plans for “a whole new Star Wars series set in a time period previously untouched in Star Wars films or television programming” – which could be anything from the Old Republic seen in videogames and comics, to the rise of the Empire following Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge Of The Sith.

Outside of the show, Star Wars: The Clone Wars supervising director Dave Filoni will be overseeing “new Clone Wars story arcs that promise to be some of the most thrilling adventures ever seen,” details of which will be available soon.

Pick up Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 4 on DVD for £28.99 and Blu-ray for £36.57 from Amazon.co.uk right now
