SyFy’s 12 Monkeys is about to begin production in Toronto, and the network has announced the casting of two major characters.

Bloody Disgusting reports that genre icon Tom Noonan (Manhunter, The House Of The Devil) will be playing “a mysterious villain who is the face of the enigmatic Army of the 12 Monkeys. Imposing and intelligent, Noonan’s character will be at the center of the conspiracy.”

He’s joined by Emily Hampshire (Cosmopolis), who plays the vital role of Jennifer Goines, “a dangerous, unstable mental patient who might have the key to unraveling the mystery of the 12 Monkeys locked away in her head.”

Jennifer is the show’s spin on Jeffrey Goines, the character played by Brad Pitt in the Terry Gilliam film.

The series stars Aaron Stanford as James Cole and Amanda Schull as Dr Railly. Kirk Acevedo (Fringe) and Noah Bean (Nikita).

12 Monkeys begins on SyFy in January 2015. You can buy Terry Gilliam’s 12 Monkeys on Blu-ray for £7 at Amazon.co.uk.
