X-Men: First Class will no longer be directed by Bryan Singer, according to Deadline Hollywood. 20th Century Fox wants to fast-track the superhero pic, but Singer’s commitments to picture Jack The Giant Killer means he wouldn’t be able to take the reins on the reboot of the X-Men series.
He will instead serve as producer, with a replacement director yet to be named. Deadline Hollywood reports that it was a script by Jamie Moss, based on Singer’s early treatment, that won them over to an early production start. The article makes no mention of Josh Schwartz, the previously reported scribe on the project.
X-Men: First Class is apparently targeting a 2011 release.
