In videogames, sci-fi is a massively important genre – this week, at E3 in Los Angeles, publishers unveiled new trailers for the biggest releases coming this year. Some of these games look spectacular, you’ll agree, and I think there’s something for everyone in the line-up:
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

Mass Effect 3

Star Trek
Developer: Digital Extremes
Publisher: Paramount
Halo 4
Developer: 343 Industries
Publisher: Microsoft
Which of the lot takes your fancy? News of another Halo game isn’t exactly surprising, while a lot of these trailers are most impressive for their editing skills rather than the actual footage they show off – still, they’re undeniably exciting, especially the opening cinematic of The Old Republic. Star Trek will also be the first game that lets players take on the roles of Kirk and Spock, though the footage here looks a bit uninspired.
To finish on a good note, though, Mass Effect 3 will likely be the best game of next year.
