Jeff Nichols’ brilliant sci-fi Midnight Special is out in the UK on 8 April, and we had the chance to sit down with its awesome star Michael Shannon to talk about his experiences shooting, those Starman comparisons and his favourite movie dad (kind of).
In Midnight Special, Shannon plays Roy, whose son Alton (Jaeden Lieberher) with incredible powers. Together with his friend Lucas (Joel Edgerton), the duo race across the American South to reach a certain set of co-ordinates by a certain date and time, but can they outrun the government forces chasing them down?
The incredible cast also includes Kirsten Dunst as Alton’s mother, Adam Driver as a government scientist fascinated by his abilities, and Sam Shephard as the leader of a religious community who believe that the boy is their saviour.
Midnight Special is released in UK cinemas on 8 April. Read more about the film in the latest issue of SciFiNow.
