“Any time you do a sequel, you’re hoping that it makes it possible for more sequels…” Gillian Anderson and Evan Peters on Tron: Ares

Gillian Anderson and Evan Peters talk to us about TRON: Ares and their favourite nostalgic comfort film.

We’re going back to the grid as a new TRON movie is heading our way this week with TRON: Ares, the highly anticipated third installment in the TRON franchise. The movie is a follow-up to Disney’s 1982 seminal science fiction film, TRON and the 2010 sequel TRON: Legacy.

Check out the trailer here…

TRON: Ares follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.

The movie is directed by Joachim Rønning (Maleficent: Mistress of Evil) and stars Jared Leto (Suicide Squad), Greta Lee (Russian Doll), Evan Peters (American Horror Story), Hasan Minhaj (It Ends With Us), Jodie Turner-Smith (After Yang), Arturo Castro (Road House), Cameron Monaghan (Shameless), and Gillian Anderson (Sex Education). Jeff Bridges (TRONTRON: Legacy) will also be returning to the franchise.

We sat down with Gillian Anderson and Evan Peters to discuss why the TRON franchise is still so popular over 40 years on from the original movie, how this movie stands out in the franchise and, with TRON 1982 being a popular nostalgic, comfort film, we ask what their own nostalgic comfort film is.
