The Philippou Brothers have returned. Just two years after causing a stir with their debut movie, Talk To Me, the Australian dynamic duo of horror are back with Bring Her Back, their sophomore feature, a darkly chilling story of grief and loss.
At the heart of Bring Her Back are teenagers Andy (Billy Barratt) and his visually impaired sister Piper (Sora Wong) who are put into foster care after the accidental death of their father shatters their lives. As he’s Piper’s only way of navigating the sighted world, Andy insists they’re not separated and they’re sent to live with former social worker Laura (Sally Hawkins). Learning that her daughter also died in an accident, Andy starts to realise the seemingly welcoming house is full of dangerous secrets, especially when it comes to Laura’s strangely silent nephew Oliver (Jonah Wren Phillips).

After introducing us to their old school moviemaking style when we first spoke to them a couple of years ago, Michael and Danny Philippou sat down with us again, this time to reflect on why keeping it real is still their number one cinematic priority. They also explained why Bring Her Back is such a personal film for them, even down to specific lines of dialogue, as well as describing their experience of working with Jonah Wren Phillips, who was just eleven years old when the shoot took place.
