Brad Garrett and Yonas Kibreab discuss Disney Pixar’s Elio

Find out the very famous Disney Pixar character that Brad Garrett could have played as we speak to him and co-star Yonas Kibreab about Elio.

Ever wanted to be abducted by aliens? Elio follows the cosmic misadventure of 11-year-old Elio, a space fanatic with an active imagination and a huge alien obsession. So, when he’s beamed up to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organisation with representatives from galaxies far and wide, Elio’s all in for the epic undertaking. Mistakenly identified as Earth’s leader, Elio must form new bonds with eccentric alien lifeforms, navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions, and somehow discover who and where he is truly meant to be.

Directed by Madeline Sharafian (Burrow), Domee Shi (Turning Red) and Adrian Molina (co-screenwriter/co-director of Coco), the film features the voices of Yonas Kibreab (Merry Little Batman), Zoe Saldaña (Guardians Of The Galaxy), Remy Edgerly, Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond), Jameela Jamil (The Good Place), Shirley Henderson (The Mandalorian) and Aston Merrygold in his voiceover debut.

We sat down with Yonas Kibreab who plays Elio and Brad Garrett (who’s no stranger to Disney Pixar, having starred in both Finding Nemo and Ratatouille) who plays the movie’s villain Lord Grigon about their pre-vocal booth rituals (it may include no pants and lots of Pixar cookies), working with the other actors in the move and what Disney Pixar characters they would have liked to have voiced.

Elio will be released in cinemas on 20 June 2025.
