Out this April on Netflix, Charlie Brooker’s dark, satirical anthology series Black Mirror is (finally!) returning for Series Seven with six brand new episodes, including a sequel to the sci-fi adventure USS Callister with themes ranging from loneliness to paranoia to AI and more.

This season also has an impressive cast including Will Poulter (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Awkwafina (Jackpot), Peter Capaldi (The Devil’s Hour), Emma Corrin (Deadpool and Wolverine), Paul Giamatti (The Holdovers), Rashida Jones (Sunny) and Cristin Milioti (The Penguin).

Ahead of the series being released this week on the streaming serice, we exclusively spoke to Charlie Brooker and executive producer Jessica Rhoades to get some insight on the upcoming series seven, including whether the new isolation episode ‘Play Date’ was about Covid, their thoughts on AI and its use in Holllywood, what all the San Junipero Easter Eggs throughout the new series is all about and why sometimes Black Mirror is just about having fun.
