“The movie goes a mile a minute, and there’s a lot of fun. There are a lot of gags, and a lot of great action,” said M3GAN 2.0 director Gerard Johnstone earlier this year when we spoke to him. “It really punches above its weight. It’s not a big-budget movie, but it feels that way. We really wanted to give people a summer blockbuster. We didn’t have the budget for a summer blockbuster, but we thought, well, we’re still coming out in summer. Let’s try to do it anyway. I think we pulled it off, so I’m very proud of that.”
